Victim vs. Vulnerable

with 2 comments

What is the difference?

What is a victim?

Define: Victim —> an unfortunate person who suffers from some adverse circumstance, a person who is tricked or swindled… A living creature which is slain, anyone who is physically harmed by another; An aggrieved or disadvantaged party in a crime…

A victim is an innocent — taken advantage of in someway… out of their control.
A victim is dealing with circumstances that have been imposed on them, against their will.

What does it mean to be vulnerable?

Define: Vulnerable —> “More or most likely to be exposed to the chance of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally; More likely to be exposed to Malicious programs or viruses…. exposed…

To be vulnerable is to be open to possible change… for bad (i think or for good also?)
It has a negative connotation, exposed to a possible threat, knowingly or unknowingly…

To allow yourself to be vulnerable is to have faith…
To allow yourself to be a victim is to be powerless…

Being vulnerable is putting your trust in your destiny; the outcome of your experiences lead to life lessons and growth. Vulnerability with awareness and focused intent is different then accepting victimization…

A mouse in an open field is vulnerable, but becomes victim when there is lack of awareness of the birds in the sky or the cat hiding in the grass…

Why was I given this assignment?

Do I make myself a victim? Am I comfortable being vulnerable?

When I really mess up, I become a victim to my errors in judgment… or from my own sabotage, like procrastination or fear…
We are all vulnerable… everyday.

Is it okay?

Do we have to put up emotional firewalls to feel safe?
May we never be victims…

What do you think?

What do you think the difference is between Victim and Vulnerable?
